Baritone, Voice Coordinator

J. David Brock, Associate Professor of Voice and Chair of the Division of Vocal Studies at Texas Christian University, has a Master of Music from the New England Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Arts from Abilene Christian University.  He also serves as Coordinator of the Voice Faculty for the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria.  Past appointments include faculty positions at University of the Pacific, Texas Woman’s University, Abilene Christian University, and Boston Conservatory of Music.  He has been artistic director of the Abilene Opera Association and Quisisana as well as on the faculties of the International Summer Music Academy in Altenburg, Germany and the Goldovsky Summer Music Institute at Southeastern Massachusetts University.  Numerous of his students have won competitions, scholarships, positions on faculties of various conservatories and universities, and have sung with the Metropolitan Opera, Bavarian State Opera, and the New York City Opera.  He has served as voice teacher, accompanist and coach in Boston, New York City, Graz, Nassau, Stockton, Abilene, Denton, San Angelo and South Korea, and as conductor and music director in Boston, at the Kennedy Center, and in Stockton, Abilene, and San Angelo.  His production of Rossini’s La Cenerentola was the first opera to win the American College Theater Festival and was invited to perform in Washington, D.C. at the Kennedy Center.  The same production also won the National Opera Association Video Competition.  He has sung recital, operetta, and opera repertoire in Graz, Budapest, Fort Worth, Boston, Siena, Altenburg, and Abilene.
