Bass / Principal
A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Casey Karr will join the Tucson Symphony Orchestra in the fall of 2022 as their 3rd chair core section bassist. An in-demand orchestral bass player, Casey has also performed with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, San Antonio Symphony (where he served as the one-year assistant principal bassist), New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, and Civic Orchestra of Chicago. He has also performed with numerous chamber and contemporary ensembles, and is an experienced teacher of both bass and beginning piano. Casey holds degrees from Rice University, Northwestern University, and Oberlin Conservatory where his primary teachers were Paul Ellison, Andy Raciti, Scott Dixon, and Tom Sperl.
