Devan Jaquez is a recent graduate of the Colburn Conservatory in Downtown Los Angeles where he received a Master of Music Degree, studying with Jim Walker. He received his Bachelor’s Degree of Art in Music Performance in the spring of 2017 from UCLA where he received the Presser Scholar Award and studied with Sheridon Stokes. Mr. Jaquez has played 2nd Flute in the American Youth Symphony (AYS) under the direction of Carlos Izcaray from 2016 to 2019 and has played as guest principal flute with the Bellflower Symphony in addition to working as a freelance musician in the Los Angeles area. Mr. Jaquez has premiered works by Esa-Pekka Salonen and William Kraft among others. Mr. Jaquez played in the 2018 National Repertory Orchestra (NRO) in Breckenridge, Colorado and was the 3rd Prize winner of the 2018 San Diego Flute Guild Young Artist Competition in the same year. He has also won the UCLA All-Star Concerto competition and has appeared as a soloist with the UCLA Philharmonia Orchestra. In addition to being a performer, Mr. Jaquez also enjoys working as flute teacher in the Jumpstart Young Musicians Program at the Colburn School and teaching his own private flute studio.
