Dmytro Gnativ is from Sambir City, Ukraine, and attended Lviv Music College where he studied flute performance with Liliana Stadnyk from 2007 to 2011. During his studies he won 2nd place in the 2009 Ukrainian National Conpetition “Dnipro Horns” in Cherkassy, and 2nd place in the 2008 Musical Festival for Young Musicians “Golden Rose” in Lviv.
Mr. Gnativ studied at the Lviv National Music Academy with Andriy Karpyak, where he graduated with a bachelors degree in 2015.
During his studies Mr. Gnativ was coached by many renowned flute players including Ransom Wilson, Samuel Coles, Aldo Baerten, Jennifer Grim, Henrik Svitzer, Pierre-Yves Artaud, and Paul Walberg. Mr. Gnativ also came in second place with his flute quartet at the 2013 V. Starchenko International Competition in Rivne. This lead to the position of second flute in the Khmelnytsky Philharmonic Orchestra, a position in the Khmelnytsky Band Orchestra, and to a teaching position at the private music school Preludia.
In 2017 Dmytro was invited to study at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas under the mentoring of Dr. Jennifer Grim, where he is currently studying and working as a graduate assistant and symphony librarian. In 2018 Mr. Gnativ won Concerto Competition and performed J. Ibert flute concerto with UNLV Symphony Orchestra the same year.
