Evan Mitchell

A native of Cleveland Ohio, Evan received his classical training at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied under the Cleveland Orchestra percussion section. While at CIM, Evan was a recipient of the Avedis Zildjian scholarship for excellence in percussion performance. Evan currently oversees the Clevelander Drum Company, a division of Grover Musical Products. GMP is a 100 year old conglomerate that has antiquity acceded several historic brands such as Rogers Drums, Duplex Percussion, and Trophy Musical Instruments. Additionally, Evan is the percussion faculty head at the Fine Arts Association in Cleveland, Ohio. Evan has worked as an extra percussionist with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Cleveland Opera Theater, Buffalo Philharmonic, Richmond (VA) Symphony, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, West Virginia Symphony, Erie Philharmonic, and the Youngstown Symphony. As a student of Nigerian master drummer Wale Adeyemi, Evan spends his spare time arranging and adapting traditional West African rhythms to the drum set.
