Gabriel Preusse
Bass

Brazilian double bassist Gabriel Preusse received a Masters Degree in Performance from University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and both Performance and Music Education degrees from the University of Brasília, Brazil. Gabriel comes to Texas in 2015 from a busy career in the Brazilian music scene where he performed in a variety of settings and brings an exciting mix of Jazz, Brazilian vocal and instrumental music experiences to his playing style. In 2012 Preusse released his first álbum as a composer called Outros Ventos in partnership with the singer and composer Paulo Ohana. The álbum got great acceptance from the local and international audience. In 2013 the young songwriters were invited to perform the Outros Ventos’s songs in the Brasília’s 53rd Anniversary.

Preusse was part of the UTRGV Bass Quartet during 2016 and 2017. During that time the quartet performed in many states of the USA. His arrangement of Afro Sambas for the quartet was premiered at the V European Double Bass Convention in Prague, Czech Republic, and at the International Society of Bassists convention in Ithaca, NY.

Currently, Gabriel is a section bass of the Victoria Symphony Orchestra and Valley Symphony Orchestra, both in Texas. Preusse also holds a position of Orchestra Director at Lyndon B. Johnson Middle School.
