
John Heins
German Diction
John Heins is the Rare Book Cataloger in the research library at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. He earned his PhD in German Literature at Cornell University in 1994, his Master in Library Science at the University of Maryland in 2007, and his MA in art history at George Mason University in 2015. Before becoming a librarian, John taught German language, literature, and culture at Stanford University and George Washington University. His research and publications focus on eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century literature and culture in the German-speaking world, most recently revolving around the history of garden design.
