German and French Diction
Diction coach John Mueter holds degrees from the Hartt School of Music and Washington State University. He continued his studies in Germany with Kurt Bauer (piano) and Willi Domgrag-Fassbender (vocal coaching) in Nürnberg and with Herman Reutter (vocal coaching) in Munich. He was opera/vocal coach and accompanist as well as instructor for German and French Diction on the faculties of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, the UMKC Conservatory and the University of Kansas School of Music. His appointments at summer programs include Théâtre Internationale in Leysin, Switzerland, the Seagle Music Colony, AIMS in Graz, Opera in the Ozarks, and the Clear Creek Music Festival in Halfway, Oregon. Since semi-retirement he has enjoyed some success as a writer of short fiction with stories and poems appearing in over 40 national and international literary journals. He is delighted to be back in beautiful Graz, Austria.
