Sam Dusinberre
Trumpet

Sam Dusinberre will be finishing his senior year at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University in the fall. From January-July 2022, Sam played Acting 2nd Trumpet with the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, DC. He has also played guest principal with the NSO on multiple occasions, including on Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major. Sam took part in the NSO’s CD recordings of Beethoven symphonies 3, 4, and 5, as well as George Walker Sinfonia 1 and 4 under Music Director Gianandrea Noseda.

At Rice, Sam was a finalist in the Shepherd School Concerto Competition for Winds, Brass, Percussion, and Harp in 2018, 2019, and 2020. In 2017 he won second prize in the high school divi- sion of the National Trumpet Competition playing the Peskin concerto, a piece that he also per- formed on Colorado Public Radio. Sam has attended the National Orchestral Institute, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp. He studies trumpet with Charles Geyer and Barbara Butler at Rice and studied with Philip Hembree during high school. Sam also enjoys skiing and playing basketball.
