Samantha Powell is a sophmore at The Cleveland Institute of Music studying cello performance with Richard Weiss. Originally from Frisco Texas, she was very involved in her high school orchestra, as principal cellist, and her local church. At age 5, Samantha started her cello studies with John Landefeld, Associate Principal of the Plano Symphony Orchestra. She has won spots in the top All-State orchestra and was a dedicated member of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra where she was featured as the concerto winner of the GDYO Philharmonic, later being the principal cellist of the top ensemble. Along with her other accolades, she has toured in both chamber and orchestral ensembles around China, Italy, and Austria. Since moving to Cleveland, she has not only exceled in her private music studies, but also in her chamber ensembles Thalia Quartet and The Trout Quintet.
