Tatia Slouka is a freshman at the Eastman School of Music studying with George Sakakeeny. At Eastman she performs with the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra, Eastman Wind Orchestra, the Chroma Quintet, and the Habanera Trio. In high school she played principal bassoon with Denver Young Artists Orchestra (DYAO) and Colorado Young Sinfonia. She traveled to Europe with the DYAO in the summer of 2014 and to Carnegie Hall in June of 2016.
Tatia has competed in competitions around the country for the last 5 years. She has been the winner of concerto competitions including Lakewood Symphony Orchestra (2017), Denver School of the Arts (2016), Colorado Young Sinfonia (2015), and Denver Young Artists Orchestra (2014). Additionally, she has been a finalist in other competitions including Blount Slawson (2017), Jefferson Symphony (2017), and Classics Alive Young Artists (2016).
In past summers Tatia was a part of the National Youth Orchestra-USA 2017, attended Domaine Forget (2017, 2018), Brevard Music Center (2015) and the National Symphony Orchestra’s Summer Music Institute (2016). Her past bassoon teacher was Roger Soren, contrabassoonist of the Colorado Symphony.
