Tong Li

Tong is currently a senior at the Eastman School of Music, majoring in Violin Performance and Economics. She was twice a prize winner in the Cleveland CPEA talent scholarship competition and was a soloist with the Lakeland Civic Orchestra. She studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music’s Preparatory Division, where, upon her graduation, she was the co-recipient of the string player award of her class. Tong has participated in the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp and the Brevard Music Festival. She has served as Assistant Principal Second of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, Assistant Concertmaster of the Brevard Music Center Orchestra and Principal Second of the Brevard Sinfonia. She has played in masterclasses for Ani Kavafian, Frank Huang, Gary Levinson, and Miho Saegusa. Tong currently plays with the Eastman Philharmonic and Symphoria (formerly Syracuse Symphony Orchestra).

Tong studies under the tutelage of Renee Jolles at Eastman. Her previous teachers include Vladimir Deninzon of the Cleveland Orchestra and Alla Aranovskaya of the St. Petersburg Quartet. She also considers Juliana Athayde, Corinne Stillwell, Soh-Hyun Park, and Xue Wei as her biggest musical influences.
