Ulrich Eisenlohr studied at the conservatory of music in Mannheim with Rolf Hartmann, piano and Lieder under Konrad Richter in Stuttgart. Specializing in the areas of song accompaniment and chamber music, he began an extensive concert career with numerous instrumental and vocal partners in Europe and all over the world including appearances at the Vienna Musikverein and Konzerthaus; Berlin Festival Weeks; London’s Wigmore Hall; Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival; Concertgebouw Amsterdam; Edinburgh Festival; Frankfurt Festival; International Beethoven Festival Bonn; Ludwigsburg Festival; European Music Festival Stuttgart among others. His Lieder partners include Ingeborg Danz, Christian Elsner, Matthias Goerne, Dietrich Henschel, Wolfgang Holzmair, Christoph Pregardien, Sibylla Rubens, Markus Schäfer, Roman Trekel, Rainer Trost, Iris Vermillion, Michael Volle, Ruth Ziesak and many more.
Ulrich Eisenlohr has also appeared in numerous broadcast productions, live concert recordings, and television tapings, as well as recordings for leading labels such as Sony Classical, Naxos, harmonia mundi, CPO, and others. Several of his recordings have been awarded major prizes, such as the German Record Critics’ Quarterly Award; Grand Prix International from the Académie du Disque Lyrique in Paris; the Classical Internet Award; and a Supersonic Award by the leading music magazine “pizzicato”.
The conception, artistic leading, and recording of all Schubert songs for the Naxos label was an outstanding and important focus of his artistic work; the whole project started in 1998 and was finished and released by 2011.
Ulrich Eisenlohr has conducted numerous masterclasses in Lied and chamber music in many countries. As pianist for masterclasses, he worked together with Hans Hotter, Christa Ludwig, Daniel Ferro and Geoffrey Parsons. Currently he is professor at the Cologne University of Music and Dance, where he teaches a Lieder class.
