Tanner Stegink is a multi-genre tubist and trombonist based in New York City. Beginning music on piano and as a chorister, Tanner joined the school band as a tuba player at age 12. Despite initially pursuing a degree in History, Tanner’s unwavering dedication to music led him to pursue a professional career.

An in-demand freelancer, Tanner has appeared with the Santa Fe Symphony, Riverside Symphony, Albany Symphony, Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, and Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, among others. Tanner is currently completing the 2024-2025 season as tubist of the Bronx Opera and recently joined the tuba section of the New York City Brass Choir. Tanner is also deeply embedded in the growing brass band movement of New York City, regularly appearing in street and subway performances, parades, galas, community events, and maintains a residency at the Keybar Bushwick with his band AdHoc Brass Band.

In addition to performing, Tanner is deeply committed to arts education. He has taught music at the Elementary, Middle School, High School, and Collegiate levels and maintains a small private studio of brass students. He is a frequent guest instructor at the Juilliard Music Advancement Program, giving lessons and coaching chamber groups. Tanner joins the Carnegie Hall Link Up! program in 2025 as the Tuba teaching artist.

Tanner is a graduate of the Conservatory at Lawrence University, the University of New Mexico, and the Manhattan School of Music’s renowned Orchestral Performance program.
