Accommodations in Graz

• From Neutorgasse, enter the building at #46 through the glass doors. A “home4students” glass sign is above the door. (see picture above)

• Walk down the hallway (passing the Post Office on the left) toward the AIMS banner at the end of the hallway. (see picture below)

• Turn right, passing through glass doors, entering the ground floor lobby.

• Take the stairs or elevator up one floor to the first floor. You will be greeted in the first floor lobby for registration.

Once you check-in and receive your room key, you will use the key pad next the door for entry. Simply swipe your blue key fob over it and the doors will open.

The Heim is set up with suites containing spacious single sleeping rooms in duplex or triplex configurations. Sleeping rooms are each equipped with

• • • Twin XL bed with European square pillow
    • Linens (pillowcase, fitted sheet, duvet, and duvet cover)
    • Closet with shelves and rod for hanging clothes
    • Wooden hangers
    • Flat screen TV with remote
    • Desk
    • Chair
    • Trash can
    • Magnetic dry-erase whiteboard
    • Shelving unit/bookcase
    • In-closet personal safe
    • Door intercom
    • Internet connection (Wi-Fi)
    • Electronic locking system for main door and sleeping room doors

Each duplex- and triplex unit is equipped with shared shower/sink room and toilet room.

    • Hair dryer also provided

In the common area of the suite a refrigerator is also provided, which contains a small freezer. The common area also features more storage and shelving units.

The Heim housekeeping staff will change linens and towels, and do general cleaning. A cleaning schedule will be provided after arrival. The Heim maintenance staff will change burned out light bulbs, etc.

Each floor of the Heim has communal kitchens; the color of the door of your suite is the color of your kitchen.

To enter your kitchen, find the square key pad, usually near the door, and swipe your blue key fob over it. The light will turn green on the key pad, and the door will buzz allowing you to enter.

Kitchens are equipped with

• ceramic stove tops with exhaust vents (operating instructions are posted)
• microwaves (operating instructions are posted)
• ovens
• sinks
• chairs/booth seating and tables
• flat screen TVs (use the remote from your room)
• AIMS furnishes the kitchens with pots, pans, and cooking utensils for shared use

Also inside the kitchen are lockers for each room with AIMS supplied tray, plate, bowl, coffee mug, glass and silverware.

To open your assigned locker, find the square key pad inside the kitchen and swipe your blue key fob over it. The locker with your room number on it will open. There is a step stool provided for hard-to-reach lockers.

Washers and dryers are located in the basement (Keller) and the laundry room is open 24 hours a day. To access the Keller, you must use the elevator or stairs at the back of the building.

• Sign up for a laundry time at the Heim Info Desk.
• You may purchase laundry soap from the Heim Info Desk.

Washers and dryers operate on a laundry card which you can purchase in your Pre-Registration Package.

Operating and payment instructions are posted in the laundry room.

The gym (Fitnessraum) is located in the basement (Keller) and is open 24 hours a day. To access the Keller, you must use the elevator or stairs at the back of the building.

The gym contains:

• treadmills
• elliptical machines
• stationary bikes
• free weights & benches
• pull-up bar

There are six practice rooms located in the basement (Keller). To access the Keller, you must use the elevator or stairs at the back of the building.

Four of these practice rooms double as classrooms, primarily for German classes.

All practice rooms are equipped with a piano and bench.

• Each practice room has a schedule posted on the door.
• Please sign up for practice time.

Other rooms may be designated at practice rooms, especially during the first week of AIMS. Check the room list posted on the white board in the ground floor lobby for room locations.

The ironing room (Bügelzimmer) is located on the first floor of the Heim. Check the room list posted on the white board in the ground floor lobby for room location.

• Irons and ironing boards are supplied.

The AIMS medical clinic is located on the first floor of the Heim. Check the room list posted on the white board in the ground floor lobby for room location.

• Hours are posted on the door and emergency procedures are also posted.

Mailboxes are located on the ground floor of the Heim and can be opened with the metal key on your key ring.

The copy machine is located in the first floor lobby.

Instructions for using the copy machine are posted on the machine.
