The 25-year-old pianist is currently studying for a master’s degree in piano performance and a bachelor’s degree in composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. In addition to Austria and Germany, his concert activities have taken him to Italy, Luxembourg, Greece, Spain, Poland, Denmark, Czechia, and China. He has won prizes at international competitions such as the Rocky Mountain Music Competition 2021 and the Gustav Mahler Piano Prize Competition, and in 2019 he was awarded the 10th Martin Hornstein Interpretation Prize.
He received important artistic inspiration from Matti Raekallio, Janna Polyzoides, Valentin Erben, Georg Hamann, Günther Pichler, Erich Höbarth, Helmut Lachenmann, Brian Ferneyhough, and other internationally renowned personalities.
Markus Koropp has been accepted into numerous scholarship and support programs, including the scholarship master classes of the national competition “Jugend komponiert” (2012–2019) and the German Student Academy. He received a merit scholarship at his current university.
In 2022, he founded the piano trio ARTrio with violinist Nitai Emanuel Musić and cellist Felix Obendorf.
