Regarded as a “very supportive and sensitive pianist” (Dr. Elizabeth Knight, University of Georgia), Calvin Stovall cultivates a sense of conviviality with countless musicians, ensembles, organizations, and community members. Born in Taylorsville, Georgia but currently based in Cincinnati, Ohio, he currently studies at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) and holds a graduate assistantship within the vocal department as a pianist and vocal coach. Most recently, Calvin has been featured on Cincinnati Song Initiative’s Let it Be New digital concert, which features world premieres of art songs by the 2024-2025 National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Composer Mentorship Program mentees. Additionally, he performed in the orchestra of CCM Opera d’Arte’s 2025 production of Hänsel und Gretel and actively performs in recital with numerous CCM students. He has performed with and attended programs across the US and Italy, and appeared with collaborators in masterclasses with Bradley Baker, Ana Maria Otamendi, Warren Jones, Martin Katz, Sahar Nouri, Ellen Rissinger, Daniel Okulitch, Horacio Contreras, and Anthony McGill. He has been involved with Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) as both a performer and lecture panelist; at the 2024 conference with a team of other members, he presented the lecture A Community of Collaboration: Chamber Music for Intermediate and Early Advanced Students. Having an affinity for wind bands, he has performed with the University of Georgia Wind Bands, North Georgia Winds, and Janfest bands. He is currently the pianist for Fluidity: A Creative Choral Community for a Cause, an outreach and social justice-focused choir that partners with nonprofits to raise funds for numerous causes in the community.
