Clayton Dungey
Tuba
Clayton Dungey of Issaquah, Washington, has been playing the tuba since he was 10 years old. Clayton is currently on the faculty at Spokane Falls Community College and The Oaks Classical Christian Academy. He earned a Bachelor of Music in Tuba Performance along with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Biola University, then a Master of Music in Tuba Performance from the University of Delaware.
Mr. Dungey loves to perform in any context and is experienced in just about every type of ensemble, including with euphonium in the concert band, bass trombone in the jazz band, and tuba in the symphonic orchestra.
Clayton has been recognized for his ability many times: twice taking 1st place at the Washington State Solo & Ensemble Festival, winning the Honors Concerto Competition at Biola, a top finalist twice in the Los Angeles Mock Orchestra Audition, and being awarded the Brass Quintet Graduate Assistantship at the University of Delaware. He also won a position in the Air Force Regional Bands and Navy Fleet Bands.
Most recently, Clayton has played principal tuba in the Spokane Symphony, been a featured soloist with the Spokane British Brass Band, Principal tuba in the Northwest Mahler Festival, 1st alternate in the Billings Symphony, presented a recital at the Northwest Tuba Euphonium Conference, and he has also taught tuba as an adjunct at Whitworth University.
