Ethan McGrath is a pianist, composer, and organist based in Boston. Prior to moving to Boston, Ethan served as a collaborative pianist at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and coordinated the Chattanooga Art Song Series, designed to increase appreciation for this genre in the Tennessee Valley. Ethan is an alumnus of AIMS in Graz (2023) and Classic Lyric Arts (2025) and is a two-time winner of Boston University’s Carnegie Hall Competition. Also passionate about church music, Ethan currently serves as music director/organist at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Quincy, MA. As a composer Ethan has received awards from Musica Sacra Nova, Alfred Music, and the Southeastern Composers League, as well as commissions from the American Choral Directors Association, the New Consort (NYC), and the Choir of Trinity College, Cambridge (UK). A selection of his choral works is available in print from Oxford University Press, Hal Leonard, and Beckenhorst Press, among others. Ethan holds a BMus from UT Chattanooga and an MMus from the University of Cambridge and is currently a DMA candidate in collaborative piano at Boston University.
