Katherine Phillips
Horn
Katherine Phillips serves as Assistant Principal/Utility Horn with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. Alongside her position, she will serve in the TSO Brass Quintet starting September 2026. In addition to her professional positions, she served as Third Horn of the West Valley Symphony in Surprise, AZ for the 2025-2026 season. Ms. Phillips has previously performed with the Arizona MusicFest and the Women’s Orchestra of Arizona. Prior to relocating to Arizona, she maintained an active freelance career throughout North Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas.
Ms. Phillips is originally from Shreveport, Louisiana and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Louisiana-Monroe, and completed her Master’s Music Performance degree at Arizona State University in May 2026 where she served as John Ericson’s teaching assistant. Her main horn professors include Thomas Hundemer, Dr. James Boldin, and Dr. John Ericson. Outside of her musical career, Ms. Phillips enjoys crocheting, reading, and hiking.
