Mezzo-Soprano Kathleen Simunek holds both Master and Bachelor degrees from the Jacobs School of Music where she studied with Dr. Paulina Villarreal and Timothy Noble. In 2026 she received an Encouragement Award in the Laffont Competition, Idaho-Montana District. Simunek’s notable roles include Fanny Price (Mansfield Park), Esther Klayman (The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay – World Premier), Beata/Granny (Swimming in the Dark), and Suor Dolcina (Suor Angelica). With the Indiana University Opera Theater, she has performed in the choruses of L’Étoile, Candide, The Merry Widow, Eugene Onegin, Sweeney Todd, Suor Angelica, Carmen, and Oklahoma. In 2025 Simunek participated in the American Institute of Musical Studies Opera Studio in Graz, Austria where she made her European concert debut. She is thrilled to be returning to Graz this summer as an administrative assistant.
