Nathan Spergel
Horn

Nathan is an undergraduate horn student at The Juilliard School and is studying with Erik Ralske. A New Jersey native, he started playing the guitar at age 5 and soon discovered his passion for the horn after being inspired by John Williams’ Star Wars scores. As a young student, he began his studies with Mel Nascimento and was further mentored by Amy Larkey-Emelionoff. Last summer, Nathan was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA) and toured South America under the baton of Marin Alsop.

In prior years he was the Principal Horn of the New Jersey Youth Symphony, a program of Wharton Arts. Led by Principal Conductor Helen Cha-Pyo, the orchestra toured Italy in 2023. Additionally, he was Principal Horn of the New Jersey All-State Orchestra and Wind Ensemble.

This year, Nathan and his horn quartet will have the opportunity to perform for nursing homes and other community centers around New York City through the Gluck Fellowship. In his free time, he enjoys practicing martial arts, walking in Central Park, and studying astronomy.
