Victor Torres

Victor J. Torres was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, currently serves as principal assistant of violas of the National Symphony Orchestra and viola and chamber music instructor at the National Conservatory of Music of the Dominican Republic. He graduated from the National Conservatory as Viola instructor and Higher Courses in Music, and holds a Master in Music from Florida International University (FIU), degree completed as a grantee of the prestigious Fulbright scholarship. In addition, Mr. Torres holds a bachelor degree in Marketing from Universidad del Caribe. In the past, he has been invited to play as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra and to participate as a violist in summer workshops and music festivals, such as New York University (NYU) String Quartet Workshop, Youth Orchestra Music Festival of the Americas (FOSJA) in Puerto Rico, Music Festival of Santo Domingo conducted by Philippe Entremont and Mozart Caribe Music Festival. In 2014 and 2015 he was invited to play with the Miami Symphony Orchestra for its concert seasons. During the same period, he served as a teaching assistant at Florida International University (FIU). Torres also plays as a violist with the Santo Domingo Philharmonic Orchestra and often performs in chamber music concerts in the Dominican Republic.
