Ahna Kim
Violin

Since starting the violin at the age of four, Ahna has fostered a life-long passion for music that has led her to partake in nationally-acclaimed music festivals and to perform on global stages with musicians such as Ivry Gitlis at the LG Arts Center and Seoul Arts Center in Korea. She is currently a student at the University of Chicago where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Classics, French, and Art History. In addition to academics, she holds regular performances as a violinist in the Music Department’s Chamber Performance Program. In recent years, she has collaborated with fellow musicians and the Pacifica Quartet on repertoire by Franck, Brahms, Sibelius, and Mendelssohn.
Her previous teachers include Li Lin, Ian Swensen, Bettina Mussumeli, and Alena Tsoi-Barantschik, many of whom she studied with while enrolled at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music prior to university. She has also received masterclasses from musicians in France, Florence, and Korea.
Ahna values music for its ability to speak to audiences and peoples of all backgrounds and is eager to continue performing the violin in the future.
