Amelia del Caño
Bassoon

Amelia del Caño is excited to be joining the 2024 AIMS Festival Orchestra as a member of their bassoon section.  She is currently enrolled in the Zusatzstudium Orchestral Studies program at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst, in Mannheim, Germany.

Prior to moving to Europe, Ms. del Caño spent a year with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (New Orleans, LA) as acting section/contrabassoon.  Ms. del Caño is an alumna of such prestigious fellowship programs as the New World Symphony, National Repertory Orchestra, Aspen Music Festival, and Sarasota Music Festival.  She is a two-time prizewinner in the Meg Quigley Vivaldi Competition, an international concerto competition for women bassoonists.

Ms. del Caño holds her Bachelors and Master’s degrees in Bassoon Performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY.  Her principal instructors include George Sakakeeny and Ole Kristian Dahl.
