Praised for her “sublime” lower register (Hartford Courante), Esther Benjamin is a cellist and music educator, currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Cello Performance at The Hartt School, studying with Mihai Tetel. She was recently a Teaching Artist at Bridge Boston Charter School in Roxbury, MA.

Esther received a Master of Music and Performance Diploma at Boston University School of Music, studying with Michael Reynolds. While there, she was inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda, awarded the competitive Boston University Women’s Guild scholarship, and was awarded the departmental award for Music Education. She has performed at Boston Symphony Hall on numerous occasions under the batons of Bramwell Tovey, James Burton, and Keith Lockhart, and at Tanglewood under the baton of Andris Nelsens.

Although she has been at the Hartt School for one year, she has been privileged to perform for notable artists such as Julliard Baroque Cello Professor Phoebe Carrai, members of the Juilliard, Cassatt, and Dalí quartets, and the Lion’s Gate Trio.

In April 2024, Esther made her concerto debut, performing Beethoven Triple Concerto at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. This summer, in addition to AIMS, she will be a Fellow at the Texas Music Festival in Houston.
