Kimmy Nelson is a proud recipient of a Kovner Fellowship at The Juilliard School, where she currently studies under Joseph Alessi as she pursues a Bachelor of Music in trombone performance. She has performed in Carnegie Hall and toured Europe with the National Youth Orchestra of the USA, performing in esteemed venues including Amsterdam’s Concertgabouw and Konzerthaus Berlin. Kimmy is a 2022 graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy where she studied under Thomas Riccobono. While a student at Interlochen, she performed as a soloist in Studio A for the Interlochen Public Radio and received an honorable mention distinction from the National YoungArts Foundation in the Classical Music category. She has also performed as a soloist with the Eastern Music Festival (EMF) orchestra, and she was a finalist for the 2024 Robert Marsteller competition held by the International Trombone Association (ITA). Kimmy grew up in Dallas, Texas where she studied with Christian Paarup and Joseph Prescott, and she is an alumnus of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Philharmonic and the Fort Worth Youth Orchestra.
