Jonathan Shine received his Master’s of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College in May of 2015, where he studied with Sharon Sweet. At his undergraduate school, Guilford College, he double majored in Theatre (BA) and Music (BA) while playing on the varsity soccer team. In the past year he was a finalist in the Advanced Lower Division at the NATS Eastern Regional Conference and also performed the role of Buonafede in Haydn’s Il mondo della luna at WCC. Other operatic roles he has performed include Robert in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, the Notary in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, and the Representative in Barab’s A Game of Chance. On the theatrical stage Jonathan has performed the roles of Martin in Albee’s The Goat, Herschel in Innaurato’s Gemini, Egeus in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Larry in Sondheim’s Company. In the summer of 2012 he worked as Music Director of Snow Camp Outdoor Theater, where he also played lead roles in two historical dramas, the musical Li’l Abner, and a kid’s show. Jonathan is excited to return to AIMS as a staff member after attending the program in 2014.
